Abstract

Besides the reputation of master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock is also known as a director who had a predilection for blond women, who are always impeccably dressed in his movies. In order to show Hitchcock´s concern with female costume and the symbolic meanings of his leading ladies’ clothing, this paper will examine four classics: Rear Window, Vertigo, The Birds and Psycho.
