fashion and female emancipation present in the discourse of women working in the garment manufacturing hub of Agreste de Pernambuco, viewed through the lens of work and discourse analysis

The research performs a critical analysis of fashion, work, and female emancipation. To this end, a historical profile of the sewing process was outlined, from the free and enslaved women of the 19th century to the current fashion workers in the Agreste region. The study interviewed 09 (nine) women who work in the garment sector in the cities of Caruaru, Brejo da Madre de Deus, Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, and Altinho. Our objective is to discuss how these three dynamics - fashion, work, and female emancipation - are configured as fields of economic, social, and cultural dispute for social justice for women. To support this discussion, arguments from Nancy Fraser's feminist theory are used, focusing on the concepts of recognition, redistribution, and representation, as well as the concept of intersectionality, particularly from the perspective of Lélia Gonzalez.
